Maile sails out of Kawaihae Harbor, located on the Kohala
Coast of the Big Island. The driest area in all of the islands,
and known to the Hawaiians as the place of five mountains,
it is an area of rugged beauty. With turquoise water, and in
the lee of the islands, it is a treat to sail here.
Leaving the harbor feels as though we’ve entered another
world – peaceful and quiet, with beauty all around. We might
see dolphins as we leave the harbor, turtles as we snorkel,
and whales as we sail along.
